While visiting Grand Codroy RV/tent Camping Park be sure to take time to spend a day touring the South West Coast. Most people set their sights on Gros Morn & area when arriving in Newfoundland.....this is definitely a must see, however you are missing out on a VERY UNIQUE area by not taking in Route 470! This takes you down along the South Coast as far as the road goes! By doing this & then coming up the TCH (Route 1) & taking in the whole area, up to & including the Codroy Valley, Route 406 & 407....... If you have visions of small Fishing Villages, you will find them here! If you want to see Lighthouses you will find them here, 4 in total including the most unique Granite Lighthouses, that you will not see anywhere else! If you are looking for History of what makes our Province what it is, you will find it here! If you are looking for a Traditional Newfoundland meal & the freshest of fish...pan fried cod, yummmmmeee....you will find it here! If you want to spend some time around a small Town & do a little shopping ....you will find it here! If you want to pick up some fresh fish from an operating Fish Plant, you will find it here! (in Codroy on Route 406)!
If you are here the last weekend in July, take in the Codroy Valley Folk Festival, one of the longest running Festivals on the Island! Check out the Isle au Morts Ann Harvey Days (also the last weekend in July) as well as the Port aux Basques Astrolabe Days (first weekend in August), these events take place every year!
If you want to get to know the locals, stop anywhere & chat with our people.....just make sure to be prepared to "Th​ink Fast....as we tend to Talk Fast!" Be sure to drop in to our Local General Stores, you will surely find something interesting here! If you want to Golf, you can golf here! Bird watching, the best right here! Hiking & walking trails, right here! Bingo, Local entertainment (on Wed nights & Sunday afternoons), we have it all right here!!! Ask us we will be happy to tell you all we know about the area......& we know a lot as we have lived & plan to continue living here all our lives! .............why would we go anywhere else?
Now if you are looking for City Life, sorry, you will not find it here......you best hurry on along if that is what you are looking for! :)

Itinéraire pour se rendre à notre camping depuis le terminal du ferry de Port aux Basques :
En descendant du ferry à Port aux Basques, suivez simplement la circulation ! Il n’y a qu’une seule route : la Transcanadienne (TCH), également appelée Route 1. Après environ 30 minutes de route, vous trouverez une station-service Esso sur votre gauche. Juste à côté, une sortie pour la Route 406 vous mènera à notre camping. Cependant , si vous continuez sur la Route 1 pendant environ 1 km , vous verrez un panneau indiquant « Doyles Station Road » . Cette route, également sur votre gauche, est la plus pratique : elle se trouve à seulement 1,5 km de notre camping (notre entrée sera alors sur votre droite).
En prenant la sortie 406, vous arriverez à notre terrain de camping, mais vous devrez négocier un virage serré qui peut s'avérer difficile, surtout pour les grands véhicules.
Si vous décidez de continuer après la sortie 406… je vous recommande de parcourir ce kilomètre supplémentaire car il est important de ralentir une fois l'autoroute dépassée et de faire attention à Doyles Station Road. Cette sortie est beaucoup plus petite et, si vous n'êtes pas vigilant, vous pourriez facilement la manquer.
Si jamais vous le manquez, continuez sur l'autoroute pendant environ 10 minutes et vous arriverez aux vestiges d'un bâtiment incendié (sur votre gauche) : il ne reste qu'un escalier en béton. Vous pouvez facilement faire demi-tour à cet endroit. Lorsque nous avons des réservations, nous restons dans nos bureaux et attendons le départ du ferry, même tard le soir. Veuillez ne pas vous presser en descendant du ferry. Je conseille aux gens de se garer sur le bas-côté pour laisser passer les gros camions et la circulation pressée. Ainsi, le voyage sera plus agréable.
Il y a un centre d'information touristique à environ 2 km après la sortie du traversier. C'est un endroit idéal pour faire une pause, le personnel est toujours très serviable. La route qui mène du traversier jusqu'ici est en bon état. Il arrive parfois qu'il y ait une bruine ou du brouillard à Port aux Basques en descendant du traversier, mais la pluie et le brouillard disparaissent généralement après 10 à 15 minutes de route. Le temps est généralement beaucoup plus sec par ici. N'hésitez pas à nous appeler sans frais au 1-877-955-2520, nous serons ravis de vous aider.
